Changing of the Guards by Milla

Firstly, the parade came.  There was trumpeters and drummers and saxophone, trombone and euphonium.  They marched across where we were sitting, around the back and through the gates.
We were sitting on a 2m high wall that was stone and very cold.  It was part of the adventure to Buckingham Palace and was very high.  I was scared of how high it was until mum held my hand.  Then I felt safe. It was very cold and my bottom went numb.  My fingers went numb too because they were under my thighs at the same moment my bottom was going numb.
Maisie felt faint and dad rescued her from the wall.  She ate all the chocolates.
The soldiers were wearing grey suits with a puffy black hat made out of animal fur I expect.  In summer, the soldiers wear red suits but the same hat.  The hat seems soft like my teddy bear.  I wish I could wear it too.  I had a great day out.

  1. The changing of the guards is very impressive isn't it. Was the Queen in residence at Buckingham Palace? You can tell by whether the flag is at full mast. Nannie

    1. She was home but didn't answer the door bell.

  2. Did you know Milla that the tall furry hats the Queens guards wear are called bearskins? I found out that they are called bearskins because the entire hide of a black bear is required to make one. X Nannie
