The cathedral is around 1000 years old. And the castle was built around this time too.
We walked around the wall of the castle and had a great view.
There are some Roman ruins in Lincoln. The arch is the only Roman arch in Britain that you are still able to drive under. This is about 2000 years old which is amazing to think about. You can see the cathedral from everywhere in Lincoln. We can even see it from our house in Nettleham. The castle and cathedral are both set high up on the hill. They are very prominent. In Roman times Lincoln was a major city.
The streets are all cobble stoned and the houses are very old. We found out that the houses around the cathedral were the first houses to be assigned a street number in the world. In England, they don't have a letter box, just a hole in the door where the postman puts the mail.
We are in Nettleham, which is a very cute little village just 5 minutes outside Lincoln, for the next 5 days.
Merry Christmas ⛄️๐๐๐

Lincoln has a significant history Maisie. That is most interesting finding out about the houses around the cathedral having the first house numbers in the world. X Nannie
